Ziegler, son of John, grandson of Francis O., born in Columbia, April 9, 1817 married June 14, 1838, to Jane Perry Martin; both still living (1892). Mr. Ziegler was tall, and of slight build, was a good controversialist, and a prolific writer. His sketches of "Columbia in Auld Lang Syne" were published within recent years. He is one of the oldest living citizens of the borough, and still resides in the same homestead, where he has passed nearly fifty years of his life. His family consists of Mrs. Ziegler and nine children, all of whom are still living. In his earlier years he taught school in Columbia, but for perhaps forty-five years he has been agent for the Express companies, and in charge of the Western Union Telegraph.
