NAME:  Hook/Huck/Hoke/Haake

NOTE:  Michael Hook was one of the establishers of St. Mary's Parish in 1742 (U.S. Catholice Historical Magazine, p52-53)

Settled in Lancaster County, soon after the town was laid out. He was a wheelwright and had his own shop, he was prominent in the organization of the Catholic Church in Lancaster in 1741 - 1742.

In the records of the American Catholic Historical Society: "Michael Hook - originailly Huck or Hike, came to America from Mayence (Germany) about 1730 and settled in Lancaster, soon after the town was laid out. He was a wheelwright by trade. He was there married to a widow named Jane Thomas by a missionary priest."

Records of St. Mary's parish in Lancaster, which were available from 1787  - 1804. In the burial records:
Hook, Michael, A.D. 1798, 4 Jan, died suddenly and was birued on the following day in the cemetery of this church.
Hook, Anna Maria, A.D. 1799, 3 Feb, widow of the late Michael Hook, duly fortified with the sacraments of penance, Wucharist and extreme unction, and was buried in the cemetery of this church of the day following.

Mary Frances carried on the bakery for many years after the death of her
husband.
I am not sure about the birth order of the children.
She may have gone by Frances. In the church records she is always Frances.

Michael Hook was born at Mayence, Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Abt 1725. His parents were Johannes Hoock and Mrs. Johannes Hoock.

He married Jane Abt 1749 at Pennsylvania . Jane was born at Pennsylvania Abt 1727 .

They were the parents of 5 children:
