Thomas lived and owned a farm in Westport, MA, situated on the north side ofthe road leading east from Hick's Bridge about a mile from the bridge, and on apathway running north from the road which passes through it. The house stood onthe west side of the path, about 500 yards from the road. In 1885 another housestood on the spot. In July 1963 Albert T. Howland was unable to locate this spot, as most of the area is woods. The house and homestead would have been where now is the New Pine Hill Road around #878. Thomas, besides working the farm, was a manufacteurer of spinning wheels, foot wheels, chairs, etc. He is frequently mentioned in town records. He was chosen surveyor of highways in 1736, fence viewer 1739 and held other offices. "He was a great man of firmness and perseveranceand highly respected.
