More specific he was born in Greenwich Township at lower end of Green Pond,Sussex (now Warren) County, N.J. Kings Meadow had his birthdate as 2 Jan, 1755.
Was named Maurice, but as he grew up wrote his name "Morris" and was thus known.He was Capt. of the Great Lakes, and was the second to sail around the Lakes. He, his wife, young daughter and sons are buried together. They may not be included in the family known as I only see one son.

Unmarried. Became a very accomplished milliner and settled in Philadelphia, where she was famed for her "styles". She waas a very self reliant woman, greatly esteemed, and was a most successful business woman, she died on Philadelphia, where she had lived many years.
Discarded the name "Edward" when he grew up, and was always known as Rockhill. His first wife died soon after their marriage, and he settled in New Orleans, where he engaged in the "Hide and Leather, and Commission" business, in which he amassed a fortune. At the breaking out of the Civil War, he returned North, and retired from active business.
