                   Discarded the name "Edward" when he grew up, and was always known as Rockhill. His first wife died soon after their marriage, and he settled in New Orleans, where he engaged in the "Hide and Leather, and Commission" business, in which he amassed a fortune. At the breaking out of the Civil War, he returned North, and retired from active business.
