                   Will written 20 Apr 1785, proved November Court, 1793, leaves to his son, Gideon, land in Caroline County, VA "which he sold and received profits" ... also to daughter Elizabeth Terry, Anna Maria Minter now Williams, sons John, Rowland, Joseph, and William.  Executors: sons Joseph and John.  Witnesses: Daniel and William Gooch, James Terry, and John Gooch.  It is assumed that since his wife was not mentioned that she was deceased. (Ancestry.com)

John Gooch, along with other members of his family, moved sometime after 1771 to Granville County, NC.  They settled in the Island Creek district of Granville.
