Francis WHELCHEL
Since 1782 was the concluding period of the Revolutionary War,and the homesite of his father, Davis Whelchel, and brothers was in that portion of South Carolina being invaded by british forces, and the colonial hero repelling them was General Francis Marion, these gave impetus for naming the youngster Francis.
She was 1/4 Indian and 3/4 Dutch.
He was a farmer.
I don't know if this is the correct birth year...I estimated.
The info I received from Donna Williams had his death date as 6-27-1904 and on another sheet it was written in as Jan 27, 1904. I think the first one is right and I will check on it.
