She was married to James Withrow 23 APR 1798 at the Presbyterian Church in Mercersburg, PA by Rev. John King. James, s/o William, a native of England, died in AUG 1823 in Madison Co., OH (Withrow family cemetery later became the township cenetery) [afmr] "Polly Withers" was mentioned in her father's will in 1794. The Withrows emigrated to Ross Co., OH in 1801 and to Walnut Run, Paint Twsp, Madison Co (then wilderness) in 1806. There they had a 250 acre farm. For many years, James was a major in the militia. He was impaneled as foreman of a grandjury on 18 NOV 1811, and was a resident landowner in MAR 1819. MARTIN TRUMAN AND HIS DESC. PG 6, 9 Early History of Madison Co., OH; Washington Withros was born in Union, (now Paint) Twsp, Madison Co., OH on Feb. 27, 1813. His grandfather, William Withrow, was a native of England and, upon coming to the U.S., located in PA where he resided until his death. One son, JAMES emigrated to OH and settled in Ross Co, and 5 years later (1806) came to Madison Co. He located 250 acres of land on Walnut Run where he lived during life and gained considerable property JAMES WITHROW died in AUG 1823, and his wife (who was b 1778) in APR 1841. Both were buried on the home farm, the place now being a portion of the Paint Twsp Cemetery. Our subject GEORGE WASHINGTON WITHROW, was the 6th child and 4th son of their parents, JAMES and MARY (STOCKTON) WITHROW, and was reared a farmer's boy. Upon the death of the father in 1823, he supported his mother util her death with the assistance of 2 brothers residing on the home farm. In early life he was a member of the "Washingtonians and Sons of Temperance" and when 40 years of age he became connected with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mr Withrow was united in marriage on Jan 27, 1833 to Catherine, d/o Martin & Catherine (Gillett) Truman, a native of NY. HAD 12 CHILDREN, 7 LIVED TO ADULTHOOD
