Patrick HAYS

     About 1728 Patrick emigrated to America with his brothers, Hugh, William and
James, and took up land in Derry Twp.  Before MAR 1737, warrants for 200 or
more acres of land in Derry Twp. were issued to David Hugh, Patrick and William
Hays; sone of the parcels adjoined those of the other Hays brothers. Residents
of Derry Twp in 1744 included Hugh, Patrick, John, James, and William Hays.
     James bought 200 acres in Derry Twp on 15 JUL 1743, but was not on the 1751
tax list of early settlers in Derry. William joined the migration to VA and NC
a few years later. Hugh died in Londonderry Twp, Lancaster Co., PA in 1779,
leaving a wife, and children. David died in Lancaster Co., PA in MAY 1770,
having settled in Donegal Twp, where he owned 600 acres of land.
     In 1737 Patrick warranted 300 acres of land in Derry Twp., and in Jan 1741,
he patented 192 acres of land there. Patrick, father or son, took the oath of
allegiance 28 AUG 1777 in Londonderry, Lancaster Co., PA.
     Patrick named his wife, Jean, and 7 children in his will (31 AUG 1781-27 MAY
1790). The will was written in Londonderry, Lancaster, PA and recorded in
Dauphin Co., PA; it was witnessed by David Wary and James Wilson. Patrick's
sons, Robert and Patrick, were named executors. Patrick ordered his son, David,
to see that his mother is "justly dealt with by my estate".
